Employer Requirement – NSNP

The Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) targets prospective immigrants who have the talents and knowledge to spice up the province’s economy and tackle demographic challenges.

Candidates who meet the standards of 1 of eight different streams are often nominated for Nova Scotia immigration, with a target time interval of three months.

The eight streams are:

  • Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry
  • Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities: Express Entry
  • Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities For Physicians: Express Entry
  • Skilled Worker
  • Physician
  • Occupations In Demand
  • Entrepreneur
  • International Graduate Entrepreneur

Nova Scotia also operates ‘Study and Stay’, a program specifically aimed toward helping international students from China, India and therefore the Philippines stay and build careers within the region after they graduate.

The employer must provide proof of recruitment. This evidence is a prerequisite for the applicant’s employment offer. Satisfactory evidence can be either:

  • Current Positive Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA),
  • Evidence that the position presented, or employee, is considered exempt from LMIA, or
  • There must be three advertisements in three different publications, one being national in scope (for example Job Bank), and 6 months before the date of job offer to the applicant. Each ad must be publicly available for less than 4 weeks. Advertisements must be in English or French and include:
    • Company operating name and contact information including cell phone number, telephone number, fax number, email address, and mailing address
    • Status title
    • Job duties
    • Skill requirements
    • Place of work (city or towns)

The employer must have been active in Nova Scotia for at least 2 years and be in good standing with the provincial occupational health and safety and labor authorities and not in violation of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) or Immigration and Refugee. Required Protection Regulations (IRPR).
